It was yet another day of school closings and unplowed streets causing delays for everyone in Connecticut.

But then the sun came out...

Cloudless bright blue skies as far as the eye could see and fresh clean white snow blanketing the ground.

It made me realize that for every goodbye there is a hello..

A New Year and A New Blog and Website for True Event

This past year was one I will always remember. We had such an incredible season with some of the most amazing clients. The pictures are a huge reminder of how lucky I am to live what I love!

With the start of 2011 comes some exciting changes for True Event! We have been working hard with (A)squared studio to redesign and launch a new website and blog and while we aren't ready to share it with you all yet (teasers coming soon), we are getting close!

Another exciting change is our small team continues to grow, I am so excited to have found Miss Abby Capalbo (a recent bride of ours, that instantly became an incredible friend, and partner) She has joined True Event full time as a senior coordinator/stylist and will be going down this incredible journey with me as we live passionately through design, pursue our dreams, and along the way always remember to make time in between the work... to laugh often, shop til we drop, taste lots of new and interesting wines and run til we cross the finish... oh and always remember to be TRUE. 2011 we are ready for you to be more memorable than 2010!

Friday Wine Tasting... Phantom

Phantom (Bogle Vineyards)

I have always been a fan of Bogle Vineyards, especially their Cabernet Sauvignon, but their Phantom release has quickly become a new favorite. It is a blend of three unique varietals, Petite Syrah, Zinfandel and Mourvedre... definitely a winning combination!

Surrounded by over 2 ft of snow here in Connecticut this is the perfect wine for a Friday night in front of the fire.

Tasting Notes:
Combines lush berry and fierce spice into a wine of complex character. Vivid essence of black pepper, dark fruit and juniper haunts the nose, while brighter flavors of blackberries and blueberries glance off the palate. From the shadows, toasty cinnamon and nutmeg emerge, subtly embracing the deeply luscious and succulent fruit to create a full-bodied, ruby rich wine. Captured in 1, 2 and 3 year old American oak barrels, this wine showcases the best these distinct varietals have to offer. Though the wine is remarkable now, age in the bottle will only integrate the three varietals more.

Friday Wine Tasting... Arrington Vineyards

For New Years this year we hopped on a plane to Nashville! One of my absolute favorite cities! After visiting in May for Libby and Patrick's wedding I was hooked, and it was the perfect place to fly to ring in the new year. During the day on New Years Eve we visited Arrington Vineyards, the winery owned by Kix Brooks. I just love visiting wineries in different states!

Perched on a hill the vineyard is gorgeous, with a wrap around deck, and tons of picnic tables spread throughout the property to sit and enjoy their wines. Inside they invite you to a complimentary tasting of four of the wines in their impressive portfolio. I really enjoyed the Viognier and Chardonnay. But the Red Fox Red and KB308 were two favorites as well. And I can't forget to mention they have some really delicious fruit and dessert wines. I loved the Encore, a rich, sweet, port style desert wine. This is a must visit if you are in Nashville! Or if you are curious and want to have wines shipped visit their website. Happy Friday! Yesterday Style Me Pretty launched their first ever E-glossy magazine featuring the top 20 weddings of the year from 2010. I can't even begin to express how, jump up and down, let me catch my breath, excited we were to have two of our weddings selected in the top 20. Considering there have been 4 weddings featured every day for over a year, totaling just over 1,000 weddings we are so honored and humbled. A huge thank you to all the readers for your comments, tweets, love and recognition. And an extra special Congratulations to the Style Me Pretty Team that continues to impress, inspire and amaze me and thousands of readers on a daily basis. This is such a beautiful magazine and collection of events from the year.

Coffee Talk Monday..A New Year and a New Workout Plan

Every January 1st people commit to a new list of resolutions, which somehow always at the top of is "going more frequently to the gym." And it becomes ridiculously crowded for a few months and what once was enjoyable becomes more frustrating than anything else. So I decided I am going to mix it up and commit to the Tracy Anderson Method.

I have been intrigued for a while by Tracey Anderson's method, and how she has helped to transform many celebrity bodies (Gwenyth Paltrow, Courtney Cox, Shakira, etc.) Her videos, and approach to exercise are fun! Mixing cardio dance routines and strength training, using repetitive movements and your own body weight she targets all the right muscles to achieve lean muscle. I am totally obsessed! The best part about her workouts are that you can take them with you on the road, into the gym or in the comfort of your own home (some space required, especially the dance videos)

This weekend is a big holiday party weekend and we are hosting two on Saturday! (I am still hoping Santa will send me a few elves to finish up the list today.)

One of the best places to get great deals on wines is Stew Leonard's and while I was there doing my shopping I decided to pick up a few favorites and to try a couple of new bottles for the weekend. This chardonnay by Toad Hollow is one of my all time favorites and the perfect wine for an afternoon cookie swap or evening cocktail party. Happy Friday Everyone! Cheers!

The Best Gifts are the Ones you Give... A Connecticut Christmas

This past weekend Abby and I volunteered for "A Connecticut Christmas" with a bunch of super talented, amazing people (including Heather Colby, Carol Dahlke, Ann Nyberg and Anna Rubino, the four women behind this incredible event) to raise money for Tiffany Farms (A Connecticut dairy farm since 1841 suffered a barn fire in September and are in need of replacing all of the hay for the animals as well as the barn) and The Connecticut Food Bank. Together with over 50 vendors, (fresh produce, arts, ornaments, olive oil, clothes, toys, biscotti, soaps, desserts, coffee...) donating 15% of all sales to Tiffany Farm, we were able to raise 3 tons of food for the CT Food Bank and several thousands of dollars for Tiffany Farm. It was a day of coming together as a community, and truly a special day that reminded us all of the spirit of Christmas! For those unable to attend the event you can still make donations directly to Tiffany Farm and the Connecticut Food Bank. To me this is the best gift of all, the gift of giving!

Tis the season for holiday parties and events and tonight we have our first holiday party to attend at our good friends' house. I am still trying to decide what I will wear but know exactly what I will be bringing for all of us to toast with, a pitcher of "Oprah's Pomegranate Martinis." Happy Weekend Everyone! Cheers!

Recipe: Oprah's Pomegranate Martini

1 1/2 cups pomegranate juice
2 ounces Absolute Citron vodka or white tequila
1 ounce Cointreau liquor
Cup of ice
Splash of sparkling water (optional)
Squeeze of lemon (optional)

Directions

Shake ingredients in a shaker and put in chilled martini glasses. Put pomegranate fruit into glass as garnish.

It's Christmas Time in the city... Union Square Market a must shop!

One of my absolute favorite things about the holidays in NYC are the winter markets that pop up throughout the city. Last night I had the chance to browse through 100's of vendor booths set up in Union Square, I could browse through there for hours (jewelry, hats, scarves, loose tea, ornaments, skin care, pottery, artisan chocolates, artwork, etc). I love how unique the gifts are and how talented the artisans are that set up shop for the holiday season. A few of my favorite vendors at the market I thought I would share with you all as you finish up your holiday shopping. Most of these vendors also sell online so if you can't make it into the city you can still shop.

I was on my way out of the market when a woman from the corner booth got my attention and convinced me to try this sea salt while rubbing it between my two hands, rinsing it off with warm water. As I did I was not convinced that this would be any different than other sea salts I have tried or body sugar, but this was unbelievable. My hands were silky smooth and so soft. I couldn't resist. This is a luxury gift for someone that deserves a little pampering.

It seems like yesterday that we were striking a pose for the Marantz’s on what was a very cold but very clear day almost 2 years ago. What we love most about these images? The movement. It represents us to a tee, as we are never standing still for too long. It’s funny, since those images have been taken, the doors have been re-painted and the fabulous yellow, grey and white palette has disappeared. But like those doors, we too are constantly changing, morphing and seeking out new and creative ideas….Isn’t that what designers are supposed to do?

It is our job and our passion to keep moving, we are visual adventurers, always looking for something new to inspire which inevitably gets translated to our clients.

Thanks to all our supporters, clients, friends and family, True Event and Chocolate Creative Design have grown so quickly, never in our wildest dreams could we have ever imagined such growth. Yet, with growth always comes change.

The day before Thanksgiving I went on a hunt for baby pumpkins, let me just tell you this is not the easiest thing to do so close to the holiday. Apparently after Halloween everything automatically switches to Christmas/Holiday decorating and all the pumpkins become evergreen trees and wreaths. So I had to get creative and use acorn squash (side note last night I discovered Whole Foods had the baby pumpkins I was looking for of course after the fact). Anyways I bought metallic gold spray paint and set up a station in the garage and sprayed the squash and a bunch of dried hydrangea I had from the summer, and sprinkled the hydrangea with loose gold glitter. I couldn't believe how well the gold covered the squash, only needing one coat they were instantly transformed, and the glitter on the hydrangea reflected subtly under the light.

It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is over and we have already decorated for Christmas at our house, but what I loved about this table is that the gold spray paint can be used for other centerpieces, (i.e. sprayed chestnuts, pomegranates, Boxwood, poinsettias etc.) Happy Holidays!

So you've spent hours upon hours basting, roasting and watching your turkey finally turn that rich golden brown. The meal lasts all about 3 hours and then.....the leftovers...One of the most delicious sandwiches ever made is with leftover thanksgiving turkey, stuffing and cranberry jelly...hmmm..But what do you do when you still have guests over and have to make another dinner the next night? Well thank god for one of the best magazines EVER published...Everyday Food by Martha Stewart. I could go on and on about this magazine..I have been receiving it for years and have saved Every one...In the Thanksgiving issue, I found something a little different....but very delicious!

Decorating for Thanksgiving...

I love Thanksgiving! It has always been my favorite holiday and time of year, and since we moved into our house 3 years ago we took over hosting it. This year we have 16 people between our families. It is the only holiday throughout the year that we are all together on one day, which is one of the reasons I love it so much!

I also have so much fun thinking about the design of the tables. Last year I was inspired by a page in Real Simple and did a nontraditional centerpiece with beautiful coral peonies, orchids, ivory burlap and a manzilla branch . Our dining room is a mix of chocolate and ivory colored walls, and a capiz shell chandelier hangs in the center. I love the idea of mixing different textures, colors and natural elements.

This year, being obsessed with all things metallic and glitter I was inspired by a tablescape I found on Martha Stewart and this incredible collection of candles. I would love to know what you are doing for your Thanksgiving table design, and what you have been inspired by.

26.2 reasons why I run...

This morning is the eve of the Philadelphia Marathon, which will be my fourth marathon. I never set out to be a runner but somehow running found me. It is amazing how something could be so inspiring, motivating, unconditional, exhausting, invigorating, and challenging all at the same time. Running gives me the freedom to move, to go distances I never thought possible, to dream big, reach for goals and to never quit trying. Running clears my head of the clutter and is where I do my best brainstorming. Some days running is my best friend; always there for me, ready to push me to be better, not just at running but in life, work, with family, and friends.

There are more than 26.2 reasons why I run and tomorrow as sister and I (Team True Event) run through the streets of Philadelphia a week before Thanksgiving I will be thinking about all of the reasons I am so thankful that running came into my life. Even when the wall hits at mile 20, that is what usually gets me through, the high/joys of being able to run.

When the pieces fall into place..you know it's love...

When designing and styling a wedding, sometimes it's the smallest details that can be the hardest. Choosing a design for details such as escort cards,table numbers and guest books can be seriously overwhelming because believe it or not they can become the most creative elements. I often spend sleepless nights racking my brain thinking of the most out of the box and original idea. It is indeed a puzzle as you want to be as creative as possible but it also has to fit in perfectly with the decor and the story that you are telling.

Well I couldn't believe my eyes when I found this amazingly genius creative idea for the Guest Book!!!!!! A custom puzzle. Now this is no ordinary puzzle, it is made of REAL wood and can have wonderful hidden little pieces like words, names, dates or even shapes.

The options are endless....

I love that it can be just plain wood...It would look fabulous on a coffee table.

Just having the date can be simple yet elegant.

Guests pick a piece of the puzzle and write on the back..

I am in LOVE with the packaging!!

It even come with pens!! I can't tell you how many times that couples forget the pens for the guest book!

Problem solved.

In my opinion these don't just have to be for weddings....what about a new house, 1st year anniversary, birthday, new baby....the possibilities are endless...

Last night as I was leafing through my December issue of Instyle Magazine, I couldn't help but notice this amazingly beautiful succulent wreath available at Viva Terra. Now I know what you're thinking...Lucinda, wreaths?? We haven't even gotten through Thanksgiving! Well I say..Why not? Why not use this as table decor for your Thanksgiving table and then hang it on your door for the Holiday season!

I will let you in on a little secret...I LOVE gardening...but I kill houseplants! Sadly, I am not even kidding and the only one that I have successfully maintained is a very teeny tiny cactus.

Therefore, I have become quite obsessed with these low maintenance( and hopefully death proof) plants.

So, I scoured through the internet to find some great succulent ideas for the Thanksgiving table.

Two of my brides recently surprised me with the most thoughtful gifts from Etsy vendors that I just had to share with you all. These designers are so incredibly talented, and make the perfect gifts as you think about bridesmaids gifts, holiday presents, etc. I can't get enough of this fabulous zebra clutch and absolutely gorgeous yellow handmade necklace, they will always remind me of two very special brides and their weddings. I absolutely love my monster with all my heart but sometimes I miss out on all those glamorous industry parties. Tonight however, I am heading over to Long Island via Ferry to drink some amazing sparkling wine in the middle of a cornfield at the fabulous Sparkling Pointe Vineyard. Being in that cornfield reminds me of another Sparkle in my life..Miss Erin of Sparkle and Hay! 3 weeks ago Miss Erin became Mrs. Dan Ethier so I couldn't resist a little teaser of hers and Dan's wedding invite!

I promise more is to come...

Happy weekend and I will raise a glass tonight to all those amazing Veterans!!

A Gallery of Inspiration... Recap of Wedding Row Event

For obvious reasons, when you hear Wedding Row you probably think weddings. Rightfully so. However, the beauty about design inspiration is it can live in multiple facets of our lives. On October 27th, the mavens of Wedding Row joined forces with the design pros at Venetucci Home in Westbrook, CT to create an evening of inspiration through furniture vignettes staged to inspire your wedding, home and life in general and demonstrate how inspiration can truly come from anywhere.

TRUE Event created five different inspiration boards which set the tone for the styled vignettes. On top of that Hana Floral Design provided the stunning flowers, Stonington design + paperie created the paper stories, and the talented Ana Parzyc created the breathtaking cakes, The White Dress by the Shore brought along stunning wedding dresses perfect for each scenario and the Jennie Fresa Beauty Library beautified the live models at the event to help bring each vignette to life. The vignettes and inspiration boards were broken up as Romantic Vintage, Coastal, Romantic, Chamard and TRUE Event - so sit back, start scrolling and enjoy a little inspiration to reality from Wedding Row & Venetucci Home photographed by the lovely Maggie Conley.

This weekened we are NYC bound to hang out with sister and her boyfriend for a super fun fall weekend in the city. We had hoped to be running in the NYC marathon this weekend but this year we will cheer on all of the amazing runners from the sidelines, preparing for Philly just a couple of weeks away. For the weekend I wanted to try a new wine that peaked my interest in the store the other day, Bear Print Pinor Noir, 2008, Monterey County. Cheers to a fabulous weekend! I was incredibly honored when Justin and Mary Marantz asked me to create the paper details for their Walk Through a Wedding Workshop this past October (I am dying to see the whole shoot! Patience, Patience). The sweet as pie, Julia Gargano, created the brilliant mood board above. Yet like every good designer, I had to do a little more research so as to get into character. Well....it wasn't very hard as all I had to do was channel my inner wasp. In doing so, I found the most fabulous photoshoot from the Tommy Hilfiger Fall 2010 line that hit me right to the core.

There she was...navy, boxy and beautiful with gorgeous wood paneling. If there ever was a car that could make me weak at the knees, it would have to be the Jeep Grand Wagoneer circa 1984. One day I say, I will own this car. Ok..it pollutes our air, guzzles gas by the gallons but the memories are priceless. My best friend's father owned one and fortunately for me, she was a year older so this was our chariot of choice. So many adventures, so many laughs, our first taste of freedom and I can still hear "Young Americans" by Bowie and "You Dropped a Bomb on Me" by the Gap Band playing at the highest level possible (that would be 11). This is what I call "Old School Prep" at its best and Mr. Hilfiger certainly gets an A+ for re-creating it with a modern twist! So what do "Old-School Preps" wear you ask?

"Old School Preps" don't wear anything new...They love things to be frayed and faded. Men certainly don't wear polos with their collars turned up or brand new Nantucket Reds...They wear broken-in white button-down oxfords with a small monogram on the pocket with faded Levis or faded Nantucket Reds that are frayed at the hem because they are a little too long and.... wasps don't have cabooses. They wear L.L. bean boots that have been methodically broken in by the saltwater while the laces have been tied halfway-up and into perfect Sailor's knots. Most importantly, they NEVER wear socks..especially with penny loafers!

Women, well women also wear the coveted L.L. Bean boots but they are mixed with a string of pearls and perhaps a handed-down charm bracelet. As for Lilly...it is never new, it is always vintage and often swiped from Nana's or Mumsey's closet.

There is always a wool plaid blanket in the back of the car for an impromptu tailgate (vintage monogrammed silver flask included and conveniently tucked away).

So....Mr. Hilfiger..you certainly got it right and I absolutely would love those super delish high heeled duck boots. But alas, I know I would break my neck chasing after my monster on the rocky shoreline of Connecticut...sooo

I might just have to stick to the new and improved one from L.L. Bean...Shearling..where have you been all my life??

Gosh I don't even know where to start with this one. When Abby first came to me to help with the design/coordination of her wedding I was so honored at the opportunity to collaborate with her in planning her wedding day. From the minute she walked in the door I knew we were going to have a blast!

Abby is the face behind, Life in the Super Burbs and also a writer for Style Me Pretty, two of my favorite blogs to follow. I knew this wedding was going to be something special, and it was everything and more! No detail was missed and the team of vendors involved were some of the top talents in the industry. Abby and Andrew had one of the best days this summer with clear bright blue skies and shining sun. The Ocean House in Rhode Island, a dream venue, set the backdrop for one of my favorite color palettes, butter yellow, and aqua accents.

Telling the story of Abby & Andrew... how they met, fell in love, and tidbits of information about their relationship made the wedding truly unique. Guests were surrounded by design details of capiz shells, candles, flowers, and place settings. And more importantly reminders of this incredible couple and their love for one another, in subtle details spread throughout, in the fun facts on the back of the menus, the buttons that were attached to the escort cards, love quotes on the coasters... All of the thought, planning and love that went into designing this huge celebration was a true reflection of them as a couple.

I was SO excited to see Abby and Andrew's wedding featured this week on Style Me Pretty. Also Abby did a day by day breakdown of all of the details and planning that went into the wedding on Life in the Super Burbs. You must check it out! A real behind the scenes of the inspiration to reality of the wedding.

Kerry & Andrew....loopy loops, airplanes and grapes...OH MY!

One of my favorite things about designing wedding invitations is the collaboration and process that is involved with every one of my couples. The process can begin as early as a year out, thus our relationship can begin starting almost immediately after the engagement. Most brides and grooms are eager to get their Save the Date out as quickly as possible...who can blame them..they are in love and want the world to know! As Paper Designers, we get to be there in the beginning...There is so much excitement, wonder and energy in that first meeting. We are allowed the priviledge to set the tone for the event in our first piece of paper....

I find that when I start designing for my couples, it is much easier to come up with a few design motifs that will travel throughout each piece of their celebration. A perfect example is that of Kerry and Andrew's wedding....It started with the graphic grape design and then a vintage styled loopy loop airplane was added (It was so liberating to finally bring pencil to paper with the airplane motif as well as honor Saltwater Farm Vineyard's history). Just as important to continue the color scheme throughout, these motifs help to bring cohesion, beginning with the Save the Date and ending the moment the guests step into the reception.

The hardest part in designing paper for weddings.....the fact that we don't get to see the final reveal...Usually that day my cuticles are non existant...dying to see a years worth of work and the couples faces as they walk into the room...Luckily for me, photographers like Justin and Mary Marantz have the amazing abilty to capture perfectly not only those details but the emotion and love of their couples, their families and their guests.. When I saw these images from Kerry and Andrew's wedding...ok yes there was a tear...I felt extreme gratitude to Justin and Mary for allowing me, through their imagery, to walk alongside Kerry and Andrew.

Collaboration at it's best...Andrew and Kerry originally wanted their Save the Date to be a coaster but as every great design idea can change and morph, Kerry came up with the idea of having coasters for guests to sign and then later laminate them to use in their home. They opened up a fun dialoge as they had sayings such as

"Having a husband is like", "Having a wife is like", " A key to a good marriage" and "Always remember to"

(I'm dying to see what many had written!)

One of my favorites....Not just because the windows came from my antiquated home (I had to secretly get them out so as not to let the husband know they were leaving) but that they were made with love from Kerry's familly who beautifully and painstakingly handwrote all the guests names..

So cheers to Kerry and Andrew who allowed me to add a little whimsey and become not only a part of their fabulous day but a part of their lives as well.

To Miss True who made the collaboration possible.

And to the Marantz's, who beautifully captured their day and allowed me to silently walk and admire two families come together.

October has been the busiest month for Chocolate Creative Design. In one week alone, we had 2 sparkly weddings, one to design for and another to attend. With that being said, I have been a very bad mommy. There has been no indication in the Wesson household that Halloween is on it's way. So...what's a girl to do?

There are two items in my studio that I know I can always count on..glitter and glue. Glitter has become a staple in my styling bag for years...it can go on anything, reflects the light beautifully and in my opinion, it makes any image become less flat. Now, I may be a whiz with an X-acto but I certainly am not with a knife and a pumpkin. So in researching, I found some great ideas with only using glitter, glue and pumpkins (no carving required!)

So we gathered the troops and set to work...

There is something that I must admit first...Recently, I was paid a huge compliment by 2 very dear friends...They said that they loved how I added "whimsey" to every project that I have created. Honestly, I never quite used that word...what usually comes to my mind is insane, crazy or silly, but "whimsey" i'll take that anyday (plus it's my Mom-in-Law's favorite word). So where does that come from? I can tell you that selfishly it comes from working with kids. Since I moved to larger studio, it has surprisingly and amazingly become a place where kids can create..They love it and I, well I get back that feeling of coloring outside the lines...Working in an industry filled with Martha Stewart, I find that it so important to allow yourself to just let go and have fun..don't worry about getting glitter on your shoes or hair and face. Sometimes by not being perfect, the mistakes you make can turn into something more beautiful than you could have imagined.

We found that Elmer's Glue may be hard to work with on a round pumpkin...but what can happen is purely magical...

Last but not least..one of my favorites...

So a huge thanks to Miss O, Miss G and of course the Monster for allowing me to color outside the lines and to allow "Whimsey" once again back into my life.

A Gallery of Inspiration... Wedding Row Event

SAVE THE DATE:

The wedding mavens of Wedding Row in Clinton are joining forces with the interior design experts of Venetucci Home in Westbrook, to create an evening of inspiration for those interested in wedding, fashion or home décor.

On October 27th from 6-9pm, Venetucci Home will be hosting a cocktail party along with the members of Wedding Row. The event will showcase vignettes of furniture that will be staged as inspiration for your wedding, home or lifestyle.

We will be using different furniture and interior vignettes designed by Venetucci Home to set the inspiration for a wedding, your home or lifestyle. Each vignette will have a mood board designed by Sarah True of True Event and include such elements as a wedding gown, a bouquet of flowers, stationary pieces, and even a wedding cake—all that incorporate the feel of the vignette.

Our goal is to show that design inspiration can come from anywhere. Even with our wedding focus, guests will garner inspiration that they can apply to their homes and lifestyle. It will be a night for anyone interested in fashion and interior design.

Monday Miss Abby and I took a trip into NYC for one of my favorite parties of the year. The Martha Stewart Weddings event that takes place during bridal market. It was a night filled with familiar faces and a chance to get to meet some people in the industry that I have worked with but never had the chance to meet. One in particular is the fabulous Mara Zepeda of Neither Snow, I was SO excited to finally meet her face to face after working with her on a couple of big weddings this year. She is such a talent!

Ok, Chocolate Creative Design has seriously been lacking on the posts lately but it has been for good reason...We have been sooo busy lately with some amazing projects that I pinky swear promise to deliver next week!

Yet between all the projects, we certainly have to make time for friends and family.

This Sunday October 17th, we will be making it to the Terra Firma Farm's annual fundraising Pig Roast!!

It starts at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday with games, an auction that Miss Anna Sawin and I have participated in (a custom family portrait and a custom design for all those holiday cards!) and of course the Pig Roast (FYI, none of the pig's on the farm have participated in it due to the young campers)!!

With the pace things have been running at over the last couple of months it was so nice to slow down this past weekend and enjoy a few days of absolutely gorgeous Fall weather, it felt like Summer on Saturday.

A really good friend of mine sent me this song last week that was so perfect for the way I had been feeling lately! I just had to share as you all get ready to begin the week. When I go out for a run it plays at least 3 times on repeat, and I am instantly re-inspired, and ready to go again. Happy Monday!

Being the middle sister in a family of three sisters, when I saw this wine on the shelf there was no way I could walk by it without picking it up. I am not usually a sucker for wine labels but how adorable is the label?! and so perfectly named Rebel Red. (there are also 8 other adorable "sister wines")

When I got home I poured myself a glass and looked up the wines online, and not only was it a rather enjoyable red table wine (simple and straightforward, but perfect for a casual night at home) but as a company they donate a minimum of $10,000 annually to following organizations dedicated to promoting and supporting sisterhood.

A wine made for middle sisters, cause lets be honest we deserve one, and even better one that gives back to organizations supporting women. A sassy blend of our three favorite red varieties perfect for sipping before, during and after our favorite family meals. Some people are just born lucky. Now give me back my blouse.

what’s in it?
38% Zinfandel, 34% Merlot, 21% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Syrah, 2% mixed red varietals.
100% California grapes with 42% from the Lodi appellation.

how was it made?
Warm ferments (70-83ºF) mixed frequently for extraction of deep color and dark fruit characters.

smells like…
...ripe red and dark berry fruits like plum, blueberry and blackberry. Sassy dash of black and white pepper with a dollop of crème de cassis.

tastes like…

While chatting with a girlfriend about the growing popularity of wine and food pairing events, they jokingly said "wine and shoe pairings would be a lot more fun!" Wine, Women & Shoes events combine wine tasting and education with shoe fashion and fun in a totally unexpected way. WW&S events are now in 20 cities across the country, with over 15,000 attendees per year, and have raised more than $3,800,000 for women's and children's causes to date.

I am so sorry I have been so mia from blogging the past few months! This season has been truly memorable, exhausting at times, but really amazing! We have been so lucky to have worked with the most fabulous couples this year and continue to finish out the season with a few that I am so excited just thinking about.

I was thrilled the other day when Justin and Mary released images from a wedding we worked on in July. The detail and design woven throughout the wedding from the paper to the linens, to the pillows, couches and vases, flowers, favors and dresses, no detail was missed. This wedding is one that still makes me smile, we had so much fun working together in the process. Congratulations Kerry and Andrew!!

They say there 2 things that you can do to change the decor of your home inexpensively and very quickly: Paint and cabinetry hardware. Well, look no further as Anthropologie has just come up with probably the most awesomist thing EVER. They call it the "Hardware Store" What you do is pick one of the 4 pieces of furniture and then choose from dozens of their fabulous knobs, pulls and keyholes. It's like a virtual dressing room for furniture!

What is even more amazing is the fact that by picking one of the gorgeous knobs or pulls it might just inspire you to paint the piece of furniture....

From the oh so fabulous Mrs. Lilien... (this is one of my absolute favorite daily reads, if you don't know about this blog already you must discover her incredible talent to find the most fabulous things in beauty, fashion, design, and specialty cocktails! Please excuse the dashing Mrs. Gemini, she's just a little bit tardy - she got all tied up chatting whilst hopping from party to party! She's a bit of social butterfly, a real chatty Kathy - while silence and boredom drive her positively batty! She's adaptable, intellectual not to mention wonderfully witty - She's got an eye for beauty which is why she's so darn pretty! She prefers thing in pairs, which is absolutely fair especially since she shares! At times she can be nervous, tense and a little superficial - but she's got a good head on her, she's logical and this is essential! She's Cunning, youthful and oh so lively - put her in the hot seat and she'll shine and thrivey! She a Mrs. who's has a tendency to be somewhat bombastic - however it certainly doesn't overshadow the fact that she's totally fantastic! Let's give a double cheer for Mrs. Gemini - the possibilities with the Mrs. are undeniably sky-high!

I am so excited to be able to share images from this wedding we did Fourth of July weekend, with the most incredibly talented group of vendors, at the Branford House Mansion in Connecticut. When I first met with Deanna she described their vision for the wedding as Romantic garden, Elegant and Fun with Tuscan Inspired details. We had such a great time taking this vision and weaving it through all of the details. It was the most perfect summer evening, ending with fireworks over the water as they danced their first dance.

Congratulations Deanna and Dini, thanks for letting us be a part of such an incredible celebration!

When the air becomes clean and crisp and the skies a deeper shade of blue, I begin to get that tingle in my toes...It's time to travel. For some, they get the back-to-school feeling but for me, I get the back-to-Italy feeling. When I put on my wool blazer, faded jeans, ballet flats and scarf around the neck it brings me back to when I was walking the streets of Florence from my apartment (which was steps from the Duomo) to school.

So it was only natural that I HAD to choose a color that could relate to a Pasta Party...Tomato Red Pantone #485. Thankfully, the Fab Miss Amy Graver of Elements Design was game for yet another edition of Dueling Designers....

Jenny Packham RTW Spring 2011

Oh, what a glorious week! We are smack dab in the middle of Fashion Week RTW Spring 2011. It is absolutely and positively one of my favorite weeks of the year! Back in 2007, I was sitting amongst the fashionistas in NYC watching the oh so fabulous Mr. Oscar de la Renta's show, courtesy of one of my brides, the beautiful Miss Tatianna, who made a life long dream come true for me. Thursday, Mr. de la Renta will be showcasing his line and I will be waiting with baited breath to see the images. So far, I have decided that I could take any of Jenny Packham's Spring line and being a Rachel Zoe obsessive watcher, I feel they are seriously "Oscar Worthy".

Just this week I received an email from Pantone showcasing their color picks for Fashion's Spring 2011 season.

Now I know we are heading into Fall, but I know that those Spring and Summer 2011 brides and grooms are already planning their color stories. So, I decided to take a few of the colors and create a Spring/Summer 2011 board based on Pantone's predictions. Although, I do have to confess that this Spring/Summer girl is actually trying to avoid thinking about Fall/Winter..Brrr......

Rehearsal Dinner at the Mystic Aquarium

I recently had the pleasure of working with one of the coolest couples I have worked with. Their wedding was a weekend celebration of family and friends and full of FUN!!! The festivities started Friday night at the Mystic Aquarium and continued into Saturday as guests arrived to a tented affair on the couple's property in Mystic. Definitely not a traditional wedding, but one I know guests are still talking about, especially all of the kids! For the reception we brought in 2 inflatable bounce houses, a balloon artist, an airbrush tattoo company, Rock Band Stations were set up in various locations, Movies played under the stars of the blue tent, ping pong, pinatas, games of corn hole, and a Photobooth. The energy flying around the yard was infectious and guests danced and partied well into the evening on one of the nicest nights of the summer. Congratulations Pauline and Michael!
