When your husband, who has an inner temperature of a rotisserie oven, and is seriously obsessed with winter sports, tells you that he is sick of winter and "please can we move down South," then you know something is very very wrong. The temperatures in Connecticut have been quite unbearable, lingering slightly just above or below 20 degrees. I would love to be able to prance about in the snow in some very chic outfit with some cute multicolored tights, but alas, I am wearing those same tights under my pants in order to keep warm in my OWN home. So, when I saw this VERY creative invention in Lucky Magazine, I became instantly intrigued. Created by Shelby Mason, the Bootight is a combination of a tight with the addition of a sock. Now, not only can your toes can stay nice and cozy, they won't be able to claw their way out. For now, they are only available in a few colors, but they have them on sale at Dillards for $21.00 in either mid-calf or ankle height. Now...for that chic ensemble....

Adding a little sparkle to your waist...

I have realized that when women hit a certain age, we finally have the ability to accept our bodies. Don't get me wrong.. fully accepting is a strong word but at least we can acknowledge the shape we have been given. I am an apple. No, not the fruit, but the body shape. Sometimes, I honestly feel like (and this will date me), "Timer" who hankers for a hunk of cheese. Yet, I am slowly figuring out how to use a little smoke and mirrors to improve this 5'4" apple shape of mine. One such device is the belt. As an apple, we really have no defined waist, therefore we must create the illusion of one. I have always hated belts as they feel extremely uncomfortable on my body, but alas, no pain, no gain. So when I came across these amazing "bridal" belts on Etsy, I wondered why should all the brides have all the fun?! I enlisted Ms. True (and myself) to create an outfit using one of the fabulous belts designed by the talented Avishag Kopelman of LittleWhiteDresser.

Winter Running... Essential Gear

Lately I have been asked alot of questions about running. What keeps me motivated, what schedule I follow, what gear is best in winter, etc. So I thought I would periodically do posts on running and share some of the things I have learned along the way.

The weather in New England in the winter with months of snow, ice, sleet and the shortness of daylight hours makes running that much more challenging than any other season. I feel a bit ridiculous writing about winter accessories since our November seems warmer than our summer, but I know the cold will come very very soon!
