Beauty Makeover with the Fabulous Jennie Fresa

I recently had the opportunity to spend the day with my dear friend Jennie Fresa (Jennie Fresa Beauty Library) as she accompanied me on a mission to make over my beauty bag and refresh my look, just in time for my big birthday. I have always had a great love of makeup, and find myself tagging page after page of new products in Lucky Magazine, always trying to mix up my look. As a result over the years I have collected a huge bag of makeup. Which was horrifying to Jennie, as I was reminded mascara only has a lifespan of 3 months, and I certainly had accumulated many different wands that were much older than that. My makeup bag was a mix of products that I had bought as a result of the advice of the pages of a magazine on what they thought I should try, not what would really be best for my skin tones, teary eyes, etc. Which seemed to work for the most part, until I spent the day with Jennie in a completely targeted personal shopping mission to find the right products specifically for me. It was truly an incredible experience and a very successful trip! I left with a full bag of new stuff; makeup, brushes, and eye gel. A complete makeover of my beauty regiment.

This is an experience that every woman should have, the extensive retail knowledge, advice and research of products Jennie has is amazing! She is not only the sweetest but is so super talented and passionate about what she does. With Mother's day this Sunday this would be the perfect gift!

Weddings The Creative Process

This past Sunday some of the areas best vendors came together to participate in our first bridal showcase, Weddings the Creative Process. A twist on the traditional bridal show. Vendors spoke throughout the day in intimate workshops about the creative process in planning a wedding, and creating a sensory experience for your guests. While not sitting in on a workshop guests had the opportunity to walk around the lower level of the winery and meet all of the vendors including Abby Larson of Style Me Pretty, our special guest speaker. As a bride you had the opportunity to plan your entire wedding in one afternoon amongst the amazing collection of talent that came together. It was a true collaboration! The air was filled with such an incredible energy throughout the day despite the rain.

The event also helped to raise money, 100% of ticket sales, for a cause that is near and dear to our hearts, the Life is Good Kids Foundation.
Everyone is already asking when the next one will be. Stay tuned!

Best Shoe Award... It's all about Yellow!

I think the last time I won any kind of award was in high school when I played basketball, which seems like a lifetime ago. So to win an award from the fabulous Miss Dumke for my shoes, totally made me smile. I hope on this rainy, dreary, cold day, my new, bright, yellow shoes will bring some sunshine into your day.
They also make a great accessory to your bridal ensemble and are currently on sale at jcrew!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

In honor of Cinco de Mayo, I thought I would share with you all my favorite way to make a Margarita.
Cheers!

The Skinny Girls Margarita
On the Rocks
(via, The Real Housewives of New York’s Bethany Frankel)

What you’ll need:
* 2 oz of clear Tequila (100% agave, Patron Silver)
* (count 1, 2 while you pour, no need for measuring)
* A splash of fresh lime juice (one small lime usually is just the right amount of juice)
* A splash of Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec
(instead of the Cointreau, Grand Marnier or Triple Sec, for just the right amount of sweetness, I always add to this recipe a squeeze of agave nectar)

Combine all ingredients into a shaker and pour over a glass of ice and garnish with a lime wedge.
Makes one serving

And if you just want to get out for a margarita today and are looking for the best spot in CT to do so, head over to Su Casa, by far the best ritas in the state!

I think we are all still recovering after yesterday's event that Lucinda and I hosted with Yumiko of Hana Floral Design, with some of the best, most creative people in the industry. The room was just buzzing with energy, and people from all over the state came to experience the all day workshops, we even had an event planner that flew in all the way from Nebraska to meet Abby Larson of Style me pretty. It was amazing to see the event come together with so much talent all in one room. Truly a unique event! People are already buzzing about when the next one will be.

I just got a link to hundreds of images from the uber talented Anna Sawin and promise to post more tomorrow with a complete recap of the event. But leave you with this image until then. Happy Monday!
