Wine of the Week
A to Z 2008 Pinot Gris
$13.00
With the winter weather we have been having in New England the past couple of days, yesterday temperatures starting out in the teens, I have been more excited about curling up on the couch with a full bodied glass of red wine than drinking whites. But I just had to share with you all this fabulous Pinot Gris I recently discovered. It is another great pick for holiday entertaining with the perfect amount of ripe fruit and crispness.
Tasting Notes:
Pale yellow gold the 2008 A to Z Pinot Gris has aromas of ripe citrus fruits, kiwi, lychee, wet stones, minerals, honeysuckle and nectarines. As the wine opens aromatics of spices, nutmeg, lime blossom & tangerine are revealed. The concentrated attack is pure and bright with wonderful lush fruit and mineral notes and is framed by ripe acidity giveing classic Oregon Pinot Gris proportions and lift to the richness. The finish rolls seamlessly off the mid-palate and goes on and on. The lasting impression of the wine is of great purity and intensity balanced by wonderful juiciness and succulence.
