Colored Extensions... Spring Trend

I usually go through a phase of wanting to mix up my hair style and I thought about bangs again but that got ruled out fast, cutting it short but thought no way!, dying it dark, not for summer, nothing seemed right until Miss Jennie suggested colored extensions. Yellow Hair, I mean how fabulous is that?! Since then I have become obsessed at the thought! It is the perfect accessory for spring/summer and while it may look permanent they can clip in and out to totally change your look. What do you all think of this trend?

Let your imagination grow..The Curious Garden

When I saw this post on one of our favorite blogs Oh Joy, my heart skipped a beat. Created by Peter Dungey as an

public art installation piece, it sends powerful yet inspiring messages to all of us who reside on this wildly spinning globe. One of my passions since moving into our antiquated farmhouse has become gardening. It is truly an art form unto itself. Not just about mixing colors, it's timing, weather and giving up control (which is extremely hard for me). But I'm learning and so is my little monster. His Momee (Grandmother) also shares in our passion and this Christmas she gave him one of the most beautiful books ever published. It mimics so closely to what artist Peter Dungey created that it gave me chills up my spine. The Curious Garden by Peter Brown is a must read! I won't even spoil the story, you just need to get it!

Easter is my favorite Holiday. It is all due to my mother who outdid herself every year. It's not just about the bunny but the change of seasons and getting into that Garden! In our house, the Easter Bunny brings way better gifts than Santa. So this year, I thought I would get an early start on those Easter posts. DIY From Bottle to Blossom... Anthropologie Spring Windows

After getting dumped on with another major storm in the Northeast I am more than ready for Spring! So while at Evergreen Walk the other day signs of spring and bright colors in all of the stores made me oh so very happy. I especially fell in love with the windows at Anthropologie. What a brilliant idea to use recycled water bottles and turn them into flowers. Each bloom was uniquely cut and painted to form the most gorgeous bouquet of flowers! I love this idea for buckets of ceremony arrangements going down the aisle, or even to be strung as garland behind a dessert or candy buffet. The ideas are endless!

Tuesdays are for Mood Boards.....

I love cocktail rings. It's something I don't have in my jewelry box but I think I need to make room for some. I have been trying to challenge myself and stay outside my comfort zone in terms of colors for Tuesday Mood Boards. Although, when I saw this image from the uber talented Phil Poytner, there was absolutely no question of comfort. Ms. True may be the queen of yellow, black and white but I just love how beautifully that the tonal purples and yellows seem to dance with one another. Sheer, flowy and filmy fabrics are seriously hot for Spring 2010 and an easy way to incorporate into a wedding. The color palette actually reminds me of a house where I grew up, where in early spring, about a zillion crocuses would magically appear overnight.

I guess I am ready for spring...can you tell?

Monday Typefaces...Spring Grass

The first day of spring has finally arrived!!  Spring and summer are ultimately my favorite months, hands down.  I am able to emerge like a bear who has been in hibernation for five months, able to finally feel the sun on my face. Somehow every year, it always surprises me when the birds finally come out to sing.  To realize how silent winter has been and having to adjust my ears to the noise as it sounds like a bird convention outside my door.  The crocuses follow the birds with their dabs of color throughout people's barren lawns. The "peepers" in the pond follow the birds with their songs at night. I can now finally smell the salt from the ocean. The new grass emerges, soft and sweet ready for cutting.  It is finally time for my ladies to bloom, fragrant white lilacs and pink peonies, just in time for Mother's Day.  As Mr. Rip says, (he lovingly cares for the Island),"Spring is a 100 shades of green."
