Tuesdays are for Mood Boards.....Pisces..

Ok so I married a fish. He might not have Michael Phelps speed, but he certainly has the most beautiful stroke that I have ever seen and glides through the water like a dolphin. He also happens to be a Pisces and most recently has become obsessed, along with our monster, with saltwater fishing. Needless to say, with the help of his Mom, our house is filled with subtle reminders of our big fish.

For today's mood board, I have shaken things up a bit. I have been scouring the internet for some rather unique objects to add to our collection. I was inspired by the fish tiles that flank the walls in our monster's bathroom (probably my favorite room in the house and also the only one that's really finished). Our house primarily consists of these "water" colors, so as to constantly remind us of the ocean that we love so much.

So Happy Birthday fish man. Spring will be here soon enough.

Let your imagination grow..Music

Music has always played a huge part in my life. It all started with my brother and I running and dancing around our parents house to their John Denver and Peter,Paul and Mary albums (yes..albums). Later came the likes of Shaun Cassidy and dare I say Debbie Boone, which really had a short shelf life compared to the Rolling Stones. And how can I forget "Grease", which my parents had to endure for 9 hours straight on our yearly expedition to Vermont. High School began the years of the mixed tape (yes tape..I did say it). Sitting with a stack of albums and/or the radio and patiently recording song after song....(only those brought up during this time can honestly comprehend the dedication).

Finally, in college came the CD and sadly my albums were packed away in boxes.

Unfortunately, I didn't get the musical gene, that was given to my brother who taught himself to play any instrument and now creates operas for animation. Nonetheless, I love music so much that I have had to put myself into iTunes rehab.

When our monkey was born, I was forced to delve into the world of "Baby Beluga" and "Fruit Salad". Well, thank god for our really cool and hip friends the Taylors, who transplanted themselves back home from Seattle. Last June, for the monster's birthday, they gave him the most amazing CD ever! It has traveled through 4 states and now has a semi-permanent home in our kitchen, ready to play at any given time. So who are these musical geniuses that entertain kids while not allowing their parents to go insane, you say? It's none other than Recess Monkey. Based out of Seattle, 3 elementary school teachers decided to form a band, write music about life as a kid and voila, genius was born. Ok, I know what you're thinking..Kid's music? Really, Lucinda? I can personally guarantee that you will love this. It is by far one of the best driving CD's ever. If you like Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, Bare Naked Ladies, The Beatles and Squeeze then this group is for you! The melodys are great and perfect for car singing and the lyrics..don't get me started! I absolutely love how they used their imagination and focused on every day topics that kids deal with like Lice, Sack Lunches, Getting/wanting a pet, new shoes and ice packs . It's like Larry David for kids.

In all seriousness, I would even consider their "Firefly Lullaby" as a first dance at one's wedding.

So fill your Easter baskets, give it to Parents who've had ENOUGH of "Fruit Salad" and spread the word that Kids music doesn't have to be unbearable but enjoyable!

Oh, and if you can hum just a few bars of "Haven't Got a Pet Yet" for Steven Taylor, you just might get a smile or even a wink...

This board was designed for an extra special couple, Libby and Patrick, for a spring wedding that I am collaborating on with the fabulous Abby Larson of Style Me Pretty, and a team of incredibly talented vendors in Nashville, TN. Let your imagination grow..The Curious Garden

When I saw this post on one of our favorite blogs Oh Joy, my heart skipped a beat. Created by Peter Dungey as an

public art installation piece, it sends powerful yet inspiring messages to all of us who reside on this wildly spinning globe. One of my passions since moving into our antiquated farmhouse has become gardening. It is truly an art form unto itself. Not just about mixing colors, it's timing, weather and giving up control (which is extremely hard for me). But I'm learning and so is my little monster. His Momee (Grandmother) also shares in our passion and this Christmas she gave him one of the most beautiful books ever published. It mimics so closely to what artist Peter Dungey created that it gave me chills up my spine. The Curious Garden by Peter Brown is a must read! I won't even spoil the story, you just need to get it!

Easter is my favorite Holiday. It is all due to my mother who outdid herself every year. It's not just about the bunny but the change of seasons and getting into that Garden! In our house, the Easter Bunny brings way better gifts than Santa. So this year, I thought I would get an early start on those Easter posts. Tuesdays are for Mood Boards.....Oscars..

As the Academy Awards are rapidly approaching (Sunday March 7), I am sure designers are scurrying around like mad rabbits putting together one-of -a-kind creations for the stars. In doing a little research, I came across this amazing image of the breathtakingly beautiful Grace Kelly. Apparently with a price tag of $4,000 ( It was the most expensive Oscar gown to date), Grace Kelly arrived in this Slate Blue Satin Gown to accept her Best Actress award for her performance in The Country Girl in 1955. It was designed by one of the most influential and important designers of our time, Edith Head. Ms. Head, who designed for all of the movie studios, knew exactly what worked best on film. Knowing a woman's body, she created designs that would accentuate the positives and used fabrics that would reflect the light.

These gowns that you will see dancing down the red carpet on Sunday will be extremely important to what you will find in the stores later on this year as well as what will be walking down the aisles.

So in honor of Ms. Kelly and Ms. Head, I have created an Oscar worthy adaptation to an elegant, rich and classic wedding.
